J. Misael Garcia MD is a board-certified family medicine physician, with a specialization in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Advanced Spine and Pain Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Garcia completed his family medicine residency in Laredo, Texas, where he was born and raised. He then continued his journey to Fort Worth, Texas to specialize in a sports medicine fellowship in primary care at JPS/TCU. During his fellowship, he enjoyed being a part of the medical team during the 2022-2023 TCU season, who had historic victories across all sports that year. In addition to TCU, he was also taking care of athletes from multiple area High Schools, Texas Wesleyan University and Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
Dr. Garcia attributes his inspiration from his father, a well-known ophthalmologist in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, who provided compassionate care to his patients, building long-term relationships, and making an impact on people’s lives.
Dr. Garcia developed his passion for sports at an early age and is one of the reasons why he pursued a specialization in sports medicine.
Beyond his medical vocation, Dr. Garcia continues to play tennis and soccer at a recreational level, and he also loves embarking on urban explorations, and cherishing moments alongside his family.
Born and raised in the border city of Laredo in South Texas, Dr. Garcia is fluent in Spanish and English and loves to serve the diverse community of San Antonio, addressing both Sports Medicine and Pain Management needs with unparalleled dedication.
